Seven Decades of Friendship
|
"You’ve lost your beard!" exclaimed Doris Zobel Fraser ’59 from her home in Australia
at the beginning of a Google Meet session with fellow Logger and lifelong friend Richard
Shorten ’57.
"I haven’t seen you in 60 years!" replied Shorten from his New Jersey home.
In the video call that followed, the two laughed a lot as they recalled a friendship that
started at what was then the College of Puget Sound and has spanned nearly 70 years and three continents.
In the latest issue of Arches, the two Loggers interview each other about how they met, how Shorten played matchmaker for Zobel Fraser, and how the two have stayed in touch through letters, Christmas cards, and emails.
