Nazareth is a 2022-2023 College of Distinction

Nazareth’s commitment to engaged, experiential learning — which prepares students to create change in the world — earned Naz a 2022-2023 College of Distinction honor, plus recognition for career development and the business, education, and nursing programs.

New fully online extensions and the elimination of edTPA

The School of Education announces two exciting changes for both current and future education students. First, both the gifted education extension and now the bilingual education extension are available for certified teachers to complete in a 100% online format. Teachers from across the state can now receive these extensions to their teaching certification regardless of their location.

In addition, New York State teacher certification requirements removed the edTPA, teacher performance assessment, as of April 27, 2022. New York state teacher applicants who have pursued or planned to pursue certification no longer need to complete the edTPA to obtain certification. This change includes teacher candidates who completed a teacher preparation program in the past.

Naz remembers

Last month, 29-year-old Sara Rogers ‘16 was struck and killed while riding her bike in Buffalo. Remembered as a talented musician and a passionate and caring music therapist, the Nazareth community will gather on campus with her family to remember and honor Sara’s legacy on September 24 at 6 p.m. in Linehan Chapel. The service will also be livestreamed. Additional details about the memorial and a future tribute concert, including a livestream link, will be forthcoming.
We have added Sara’s name to our page of remembrance, where we acknowledge and remember our alumni who have passed away.

He uses his upbringing as the oldest of 10 in a corrugated tin hut with a dirt floor to inform his portraits, which capture people's lives in less-developed nations.
