In partner news, Hispanic Heritage Month is in full swing with Visit Tucson and Pima County’s ¡Viva Tucson! campaign. Children’s Museum Tucson has begun an exciting expansion with help from Angel Charity for Children. Live theatre is also back with Arizona Theatre Company kicking off next week. DTP Hosts Successful Annual Meeting

The DTP's Annual Board Meeting was held on September 5 at the Pima County Historic Courthouse, featuring Rob Elias, President & CEO of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, along with an Annual Report by DTP President & CEO, Kathleen Eriksen. Downtown Businesses Meet Next Week

The next Downtown Merchants & Retail Council meeting is on Wednesday, September 18 at 2:00 p.m. via Zoom. This meeting is open to business owners, managers and staff located within the downtown Business Improvement District. Interested participants can learn about the latest downtown updates, events and projects.

¡Viva Tucson! A Hispanic Heritage Month Fiesta

Visit Tucson and Pima County invite you to celebrate the food, music, art and traditions of Hispanic and Latinx culture, all integral to the very DNA of Southern Arizona. Enjoy free outdoor concerts every Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Historic Pima County Courthouse, starting today, September 13, and continuing weekly through Memorial Day 2025. The first four concerts highlight ¡Viva Tucson! Pima County will also illuminate the Historic Courthouse dome with Mexican flag colors from September 30 to October 4.

Children's Museum Tucson Breaks Ground Downtown

Last week, Children's Museum Tucson held a groundbreaking for renovations of the new Angel Charity for Children Education Center, at 130 S. Scott Avenue. The Museum is slated to receive $1 million from Angel Charity to facilitate the renovation. The new center will include additional program spaces, and expand access for children from Title I schools, benefiting an additional 40,000 students in the inaugural year. ATC Starts its 57th Season with "Dial M For Murder"

Experience the magic of a live performance at Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) in Downtown Tucson! Don't miss Dial M For Murder a thrilling classic murder mystery running from September 22 to October 12.

ATC's upcoming shows for the rest of the 2024-2025 season include Scrooge!, Blues in the Night, Bob & Jean: A Love Story and Ms. Holmes and Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B.

Free Mexican Independence Celebration

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the Mexican Independence Day Celebration on September 14 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Presidio Museum, 196 N. Court Avenue. Enjoy an evening of vibrant performances including Ballet Folklorico Tapatio and Mariachi Innovacion, followed by El Grito delivered by a representative from the Mexican Consulate. The event will also feature a lecture on Tucson’s transition from a Spanish to a Mexican identity. Free to the public!

Save the Date: AIDSWALK & Tucson Pride Parade

The Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation and Tucson Pride have joined forces for a special night of celebration, awareness and community! On Friday, September 27, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., they will bring together AIDSWALK Tucson and the 2024 Tucson Pride Parade at Armory Park, 222 S. 5th Avenue. Enjoy the fundraiser and revel in the parade, with delicious food trucks, local vendors and live performances.
