This event was the first of many during the week's Transitions New Student Orientation program for incoming students. A variety of speakers and performers took the stage to help welcome students to their Laker journey.

Learn the Facts
University Counseling Center: Myths and Facts
The Fall 2022 semester is well underway! And while excitement is in the air, all of the changes that accompany the start of a new academic year can, for some, either lend to stress or exacerbate existing mental health concerns. The University Counseling Center (UCC) is here to support students’ mental and emotional well-being. To that end, we will be working to dispel some common myths about mental health services on campus throughout the month of September. If you have a student who is thinking of reaching out, it may be helpful to know these facts.

GVSU Campus Health Center is Now Open!

The GVSU Campus Health Center managed by Trinity Health is currently open to students Monday – Friday,  8 a.m. – 5 p.m. to answer questions and schedule appointments.

Housing and Residence Life

Live Blue for 2

Live Blue for Two!

The Fall 2023-Winter 2024 housing application opens in September and student’s current deposits will cover the upcoming application cycle. On campus apartments are great choices for second year students, where they can be “on their own”, but not alone. Housing staff are there to support as needed, for things like room changes, contract releases for study abroad/internships, etc.
Living in an on campus apartment is also encouraged for students who lived at home their first Laker year. Our staff can assist in supporting students taking their first step in living away from home!

Financial Aid

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2023-2024 academic year will open October 1, 2022. We encourage using the IRS data retrieval tool to pull 2021 tax information, to make the process even easier.

Also, our online scholarship database, myScholarships offers GVSU specific and external opportunities for new and current students based on academic merit, financial need, major and more. The majority of deadlines fall between February 15 and March 1. Students can begin to submit applications for the 2023-2024 academic year on November 1, 2022 by visiting the GVSU My Scholarships website. Students with questions should contact the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships by e-mailing scholarships@gvsu.edu.

We understand that unusual circumstances exist that may warrant reconsideration of financial aid eligibility. These special circumstances may be changes that have occurred in your family or student circumstances since the FAFSA was filed or unusual family circumstances not accounted for on the FAFSA. Please visit www.gvsu.edu/financialaid/specialcirc to learn how to let us know about these changes.
