Dear Colleagues,
Happy New Year!
The start of the new semester marks the first anniversary of Thunder & Wonder. The idea for this bulletin came from you and I am so happy we have been able to send it off every two weeks. It allows us to celebrate all your wonderful work and life achievements. It keeps us connected to each other.
Since last January we have had access to vaccinations and boosters. Travel has opened up. We have also had new COVID variants keeping us on our toes and adapting quickly to changing circumstances. The daily practice of personal risk assessment is getting tedious and tiring, but we do have so much more control than a year ago and much to be grateful for, thanks to rapidly advancing medical research.
We have also started work on the campus reorganization and exploring the opportunities it may bring, which is exciting. It, too, comes with a mix of feelings: excitement, trepidation, anticipation, grief, even fear.
Let’s hope we will bypass choppy waters as I steer us through the last leg of the historic College of Arts & Sciences. It is an honor and I look forward to it.
Best,
