This Month in CHOPR History

CHOPR's ten-year history of bringing colleagues together for a lively and convivial reception at AcademyHealth grows in size and prominence.

As CHOPR faculty and fellows gear up to present at this year's AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting, the office staff is busy finalizing the annual CHOPR Reception. While many of us have grown accustomed to attending the yearly event, those newer to the Center may not know how the best gathering at AcademyHealth got its start.
"The first one was in Chicago in 2009 in our hotel room overlooking the lake.  Nancy Hanrahan and I were sharing a room and we bought wine and cheese and invited all our alums and colleagues in the field to a reception," said Dr. Eileen Lake
In the spirit of collegial fellowship, the Center scheduled the next reception in Boston the following year and a tradition was born. In 2013, the Hillman Scholars in Nursing Innovation joined as co-hosts with scholars and program directors attending from the three schools of nursing. In ten years, the list of attendees has grown to include CHOPR Senior Fellows, past and current pre- and post-doctoral fellows, and distinguished guests from around the U.S. and the world. This year, CHOPR will launch its first fundraising campaign in honor of the Center's 30th Anniversary. See you in DC!
