Changing Ependymoma Outcomes Together

CERN Foundation, a program of the National Brain Tumor Society, participates in the virtual SNO meeting on Transdisciplinary Global Research in Rare CNS Tumors: A Framework to Impact Outcomes Across CNS Disease

World-renowned neuro-oncology researchers and health care providers gathered virtually to share their work, the challenges and possible solutions to improve patient outcomes across central nervous system cancers. Neuro-oncology researchers and health care providers recognize that working together globally across all brain and spine cancers is the most effective path forward to improve treatments and outcomes. Researchers and health care providers took a giant step on that path in a virtual meeting in partnership with the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO).

New Employer Matching Gift Information - Double your impact!

Now that the CERN Foundation is officially a program of the National Brain Tumor Society, you can increase the impact of your generous donation by asking your employer to match your gift dedicated to the Ependymoma Fund. More companies recognize NBTS for matching programs and this is an easy way to double your contributions. Contact your employer directly to see if your gift is eligible for a match. If so, please request a matching gift form from your employer, have it completed and signed by a company representative, and send the form to the National Brain Tumor Society with your gift. Once your form is received, we will ensure your gift is matched and designated for the Ependymoma Fund.

New Videos Offer Guidance on Managing A Child’s Cancer Diagnosis

NCI has released a series of new videos that offer parents and loved ones important guidance about dealing with their child’s diagnosis of cancer. The videos offer recommendations and information about finding and deciding on treatments, proven ways to support a child with cancer, and how to help the entire family get through this difficult time. The videos are available on NCI’s YouTube channel and can also be found on NCI's resource for parents: Support for Families When a Child Has Cancer. These videos are not specific to the brain tumor experience, but offer helpful guidance and support.

The CERN Foundation and the National Brain Tumor Society have joined forces to help people with ependymoma and advance ependymoma research toward the development of new and better treatments through the creation of the Ependymoma Fund for Research and Education. Today, the CERN Foundation is officially a designated program of the National Brain Tumor Society. Donations to the Ependymoma Fund for Research and Education will be made on the NBTS website and used to support research efforts that will benefit both ependymoma patients and research through CERN. Emphasis will be placed on CERN’s historical model of supporting work that translates basic science into clinical practice. The Fund will also address overcoming barriers to clinical trial accrual and the development of new clinical studies for ependymoma patients. Additional funds will be used to support educational efforts through print, media, and awareness events. The new collaborative Ependymoma Fund will continue CERN’s practice and tradition of involving and collaborating with other scientists, medical providers, foundations and supporters of ependymoma research.
