FW: COVID-19 Vaccine Q&A
CDC states that “Healthcare personnel continue to be on the front line of the nation’s fight against this deadly pandemic. Healthcare personnel’s race and ethnicity, underlying health conditions, occupation type, and job setting can contribute to their risk of acquiring COVID-19 and experiencing severe outcomes, including death. By providing critical care to those who are or might be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, healthcare personnel have a high risk of being exposed to and getting sick with COVID-19. As of December 3, the day CDC published these recommendations, there were more than 249,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 866 deaths among healthcare personnel” (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations/hcp.html).
It is critically important that we provide accurate and reliable information to our healthcare personnel (HCP) regarding COVID-19 vaccination. Not only does the vaccination protect HCP, it protects the residents they care for and other staff they work with.
Recognizing that staff have specific concerns regarding the vaccine, please see this document shared by the ECHO project. It is a flyer adapted from “The society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine TM- Questions and Answers about the COVID-19 Vaccine for PALTC Staff, Patients, Residents and Family Members”.
Hopefully you will find this document helpful and will share the information with your staff, residents, and family members.
Sincerely,
North Carolina Assisted Living Association
