More than 500 students from 42 countries and regions rolled their suitcases into their new dorm rooms on Move-In Day. 32 Residents Assistants and 41 Orientation Ambassadors were there to help the new students and their families find their way.

Nearly 60 students from 22 universities and 14 countries spent their summer studying, living, and interacting in Mandarin as part of NYU Shanghai’s annual Summer Chinese Immersion Program. The program has grown in popularity, with a 50 percent increase in enrollment from last year alone.

🗨️ On August 22, NYU Shanghai and the Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention jointly hosted the “Global Health” sub-forum of the 2026 Shanghai Forum on High-Quality Development of Disease Prevention and Control. Eight experts from across China shared research and practical perspectives on pressing public health challenges, including healthy aging, climate change, global health cooperation, emergency response, and digital mental health. NYU Shanghai faculty Bei Wu, Guan Chenghe, and Han Jin joined colleagues from public health institutions and research centers in Shanghai, Beijing, and Hainan, highlighting the importance of cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration in addressing complex global health challenges.
🗨️ Congratulations to “Kiwi – An AI Learning Companion Platform” on being selected for the 2026 Shanghai Municipal Teaching Reform Advancement Program by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. Led by Nasir Memon, Wen Hongyi, Xu Lihua, Wang Shengjie, Keith Ross, and Yao Wang, the project has been recognized for its innovative platform design, effective integration of AI into teaching practices, and outstanding achievements in developing students’ AI competencies.
🗨️ Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Management and Organizations Eva Lin, whose paper "Coping with Employment Uncertainty: The Role of Emotion Mindset in Job Search and Mental Health" was selected as the winner of the Arnon Reichers Best Student Paper Award in the Careers Division at the 86th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management. The award is the division's highest recognition for outstanding research by emerging scholars in the early stages of their academic careers.

A new AI test predicting the risk of breast cancer recurrence has been created by NYU researchers. Published in a paper in the journal Nature Communications, the test works quickly and more inexpensively than current methods.

NYU Shanghai welcomed 42 migrant children to its College and Career Lab for a two‑week free summer camp in July, Pudong Observer and Jiefang Daily reported.

The Paper covered Assistant Professor of Sociology Miao Jia’s latest study published in Social Science & Medicine, examining how physical disorders in neighborhoods were associated with psychological distress among Shanghai residents from 2017 to 2019.
