ISSS Bus Trip to Kenwood Towne Centre | October 9
Visit a premier shopping destination to get styled and prepped for the autumn season! Join ISSS on a bus trip to Kenwood Towne Centre on Fall Break weekend (No classes on Friday, October 8). Cost for this trip is $5.
Departure time: 11:30 am | Shopping/Dining Time: 12:30pm - 3:30pm

Postponed, but we are still excited to welcome all Miamians and members of the local community to the Commemorative Opening of International Student Center! Come to the parking lot of MacMillan Hall from 3-5pm for a variety of global refreshments; inside MacMillan Hall 017 there will be a photo booth, trivia contest, commemorative signing, ceremonial tree planting and opportunity to connect with Miami students, faculty, staff and administrators.
Global Friendship Trip to Butterfield Farm | October 16
Join fellow Miamians from all over the world in a trip to Butterfield Farm for some classic American autumnal activities!
Cost for the trip to Butterfield Farm is $8 and includes: transportation, bonfire, pumpkin carving station, hayride and/or corn maze. (Please note: Those interested in carving a pumpkin will need to purchase a pumpkin, $5-$10, on their own.) All activities are optional. This is a family friendly event; children/dependents of international students and scholars can participate for free.

One of the most prominent Asian Americans in broadcast news, JuJu Chang is the Emmy Award-winning co-anchor of ABC News Nightline and will discuss the rise of hate crimes against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and how to be a champion of social change.

International students with questions about the student health plan or U.S. health insurance can come to the International Student Center (MacMillan 017, lower level, enter through the parking lot's central entrance) to meet with an Aetna Insurance representative.

Prepare for Spring Registration

The Spring 2022 course list will become available on Monday, October 4, and registration will begin on October 27. We recommend scheduling a meeting with your academic advisor within the next two weeks to discuss course options for the upcoming semester. To prepare for registration, login to BannerWeb in your MyMiami account and check your registration hold status. If you have a registration hold it will prevent you from choosing courses, so begin resolving any holds now.

Submit a photo or essay by October 15 that shows your international perspective to the International Education Week contest! Top photos and essays will be honored during International Education Week (IEW) with the award winners receiving prizes.

- Going above and beyond to assist international students
- Advocating for international students’ needs
Please note that faculty (professors/instructors) and staff from Global Initiatives, International Admissions, American Culture and English, and the English Language Center are NOT eligible for this award.

- Are you interested in reading a children's book from your home country to local kids? Join Global Storytelling at Mini U! The International Education Week Committee is looking for international students who would be interested in going to Mini University (the campus daycare and preschool) to read them a story from your home country on Tuesday, November 16 from 10-11am. Interested students should reach out to Karla at guinigkm@miamioh.edu.
- Apply to be a part of the MUPD Student Advisory Board! The Miami University Police Department is looking for students to advise MUPD about matters related to police-student relations, community concerns, ways to engage students effectively, and open dialogue relative to the current social climate.
