Students who received a WHO vaccine are encouraged to get a booster shot

Dear Student,
As you prepare to return to campus for spring semester, we wanted to share a few updates and reminders regarding COVID-19 protocols.
Update for those who received a WHO-authorized vaccine
For students who received a vaccine authorized by the WHO (and not by the FDA), it is now recommended that you obtain a Pfizer or Moderna booster shot six months after completing your initial vaccine doses. Previously, the recommendation was that you should receive the full series of an FDA-authorized vaccine. The updated recommendation is that you should receive only a booster. You can schedule a booster through any local provider that is offering COVID vaccines. Miami University will also be offering booster clinics on campus - watch your email for information.
Reminders from January 12 message
A message was sent out to the entire Miami University community with updates regarding COVID-19 protocols, particularly for students who live on campus. An additional message with more details was sent to on-campus students on January 13.
Please note the following:
All Oxford students who live on campus will be required to show a negative PCR COVID-19 test result that was administered no more than 3 days before returning to campus. Please schedule a test now, as many providers schedule out almost one week into the future. You will need to show your test result when you check in to your residence hall.

NOTE: If you test positive, you will need to delay your return to campus until after your required isolation period.
Secondly, please note that the quarantine and isolation space on campus is limited. Students who live more than 150 miles away from Oxford (which includes all international students) will be prioritized for this space. However, in case the space fills up, all on-campus students should have a back-up plan for where they would quarantine or isolate if required to do so and the space is full. This could be an off-campus hotel or friend's residence.
We look forward to a safe and successful spring semester! Watch for the weekly ISSS newsletter to begin this Friday, January 21.

Sincerely,
Molly Heidemann
