   WINTER WEATHER AWARENESS
We hope our Eagles are staying safe and warm this winter. The temperamental Texas weather can change rapidly, so be prepared!
When traveling, always use your best judgment and contact your professors if you do not feel comfortable attending class in person.
Learn more about UNT’s weather policies and stay weather aware by continuously monitoring forecasts. Should the university close or delay start times, all students will receive an Eagle Alert message. Log in to your my.unt.edu portal to make sure your contact information is up to date.

   EAGLE ALERT TEST
Speaking of Eagle Alert, UNT will conduct a test of the Eagle Alert system on Friday, Jan. 26. The system, used to notify the UNT community about emergency situations and university closings, will send text and voice messages by phone and display a full-screen test alert on campus computer and presentation screens.
Follow @UNTEagleAlert on X to get emergency updates in real time. After the test, we recommend that you save the number your Eagle Alert test came from in your phone contacts as “Eagle Alert” so that it doesn’t show up as unknown in the future.

   MAPLE STREET CLOSURE
On Jan. 22, the city of Denton began road repairs on the north side of Maple Street from Eagle Landing to the Coliseum. The work on the north side is expected to be completed in March, and then work will begin on the south side, which is expected to be completed in July.
Pedestrians need to use Avenue A or Avenue C to cross Maple during the project. Check this map for a visual of the initial closure and follow Facilities' FacebookInstagram or X for updates.

Students socializing in Bruce Hall courtyard
   SCRAPPY'S SIGHTS
Last week, we asked if you knew where the giant chess set is located. The correct answer is the Bruce Hall courtyard! It also has a fire pit, barbecue grills and plenty of seating to kick back with friends.
Built in 1946, Bruce is the oldest residence hall still used for housing students on-campus (prompting tales of Bruce Hall hauntings) and has a history of famous ex-residents, such as Norah Jones and Le1/311/crae
Thank you to everyone who participated in this month’s contest; winners will receive an email with instructions on how to pick up prizes. Stay tuned for the next trivia contest in February!
