| With federal funding freezes on conservation projects and federal agency staff dismissals weighing heavily on many in the field, CFN hosted a webinar earlier this month to examine the election’s impact on conservation policy and funding. One hundred twenty-five practitioners joined to hear speakers Alex Funk (Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership) and Lesley Kane Szynal (Outdoors America Campaign, LWCF) discuss anticipated funding shifts, legislative changes, and emerging opportunities. Thank you to everyone who participated!
To understand how we can best support our network’s needs, we are launching a survey to learn what resources, information, and support related to conservation finance you would find useful in your work. Take the survey here! Thank you for staying engaged with CFN.
We’re excited to announce our new Ecosystem Services Markets Roundup, a quarterly update on ecosystem markets. This month, we focus on developments in forest and grasslands carbon markets, including, among other topics, American Forest Foundation’s upcoming carbon auction (the first of its kind!) and Chestnut Carbon’s afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation carbon project in the US, one of the largest in recent history. You can expect to see updates on other ecosystem market projects and topics in the months to follow. Click here to access the Ecosystem Markets Roundup!
Finally, don’t miss our next Nature’s Returns Webinar: Grasslands and Carbon Finance- Lessons from Southeast Montana, on April 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM Eastern. Join us to explore how grasslands conservation intersects with carbon finance, featuring a case-study involving a 30,000-acre Montana ranch. Register here to secure your spot.
