• GPS Postdoctoral Fellow June Ke facilitated a captivating discussion on Wednesday on the intricate connections established in this year's NYU Shanghai Reads selection The Way Spring Arrives and Other Stories. This literary masterpiece adeptly weaves together the present, the future, and the past by employing the rich language of Chinese folklore and mythology. The event was the first of this semester's Faculty Salon Speaker Series, organized by the NYU Shanghai Reads program.

When astronomers were stumped by the strange behavior of a dead star, NYUAD researchers took part in an observational campaign. "We have witnessed extraordinary cosmic events where enormous amounts of matter…are launched into space within a very brief time span of tens of seconds from a small, dense celestial object rotating at incredibly high speeds," said Maria Cristina Baglio.
