A message from Science Alliance
Welcome to the first edition of the Science Alliance newsletter for 2022!
As always, the Science Alliance team is excited for a new year of delivering STEM programs and events for all our audiences. While we are keeping several of our online events from last year, we are also optimistically planning to bring back a variety of in-person programs. Check out our list of programs in the Science Alliance Event Booklet 2022.
In this edition themed “Smart Thinking”, we invite you to follow Dr Karl as he explores a humorously named psychological phenomenon, hear from Professor Edward Holmes as he reflects on the nature of scientific recognition, and join us in celebrating one of our Science alum Camille Goldstone-Henry who has been awarded the 2021 Women's Weekly Women of the Future award in recognition of her work in protecting some of Australia's iconic wildlife species.
Applications for the International Science School (ISS) 2022 have now opened. It is a 9 day fully funded online program by the Physics Foundation at the University of Sydney. This is an amazing opportunity for high achieving and keen Year 11 and 12 science students to explore their interests and meet like-minded scholars. Places are limited and applications are closing soon.
This year’s National Science Week theme is Glass: More than meets the eye and we can’t wait to share the exciting activities and events we will be involved in.
We look forward to meeting you in our online or in-person programs throughout the year! Please keep an eye on the Science Alliance website for upcoming events or new opportunities.
Best wishes for 2022,
The Science Alliance Team
