Spring Program Registration Begins in FebruaryThe Leisure Services Department announces its spring program opportunities for 2023.
A diverse selection of activities highlighting the arts, environmental science, recreation, sports, and holiday events are planned for adults and children. The Department will implement a “rolling registration.” All program registration takes place online
Before registering, individuals who have not already done so must establish a free online account at www.accgov.com/myrec . Payment may be rendered using a debit card, American Express, Discover Card, MasterCard, Visa, or a MasterCard or Visa gift card.
Registration will continue until programs are at full enrollment or they begin. Information regarding the scholarship program, including required documentation, is available at www.accgov.com/scholarship.
Individuals who do not have access to a computer or smart phone may register online using the public computers at Heard Park at 400 McKinley Dr., Lay Park at 297 Hoyt St., or Rocksprings Park at 291 Henderson Ext. during regular hours of operation

"Movies by Moonlight" at the Morton Theatre
On Sunday, February 5, the Leisure Services Department will host a “Movies by Moonlight” event at the Morton Theatre
This rare indoor “Movies by Moonlight” event will feature the 1978 classic “The Wiz."
Doors open at 3:00 p.m. The afternoon begins at 3:30 p.m. with a presentation by Lydia Mitchell, a featured dancer in the film, moderated by Dr. Freda Scott Giles, UGA Associate Professor Emerita (Department of Theatre and Film Studies and African American Studies). The film follows at 4:00 p.m.
This event is free of charge and is open to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult
Registration is not required. The public is reminded that downtown parking decks and street metered parking is free on Sundays. So ease on down!

Hike into History!
Take a guided hike with Leisure Services Department's Trails and Open Space staff. Learn about the social, economic, and natural history of our public spaces!
The next hike is scheduled for Saturday, February 18, features Ben Burton Park, and takes place from 1:00 - 3:00p.m. The fee is $2 for ACC residents and $3 for non-residents. Online registration is required.

Who Wants a Summer Job?
Leisure Services is now hiring more than 100 summer positions. Applications are currently being accepted for camp counselors, counselors in training, Grand Slam, lifeguards, and pool clerks. Do You Have Your Tickets?
The East Athens Educational Dance Center presents its annual production entitled “Happiness Rules” at the Morton Theatre.
“Happiness Rules" is a showcase of dance highlighting the gifted students enrolled the Dance Center’s Accelerated Programs. The program features ballet, modern, tap, African and contemporary dance. Dancers will perform new works exploring themes of friendship, gratitude, kindness, and love. Curated with the goal of uplifting the audience, the music and choreography are sure to inspire and delight audiences of all ages.
Public performances are scheduled for Saturday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m and Sunday February 26 at 3:00 p.m. All performances take place at the Morton Theatre at 195 W. Washington Street. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 the day of the show (pending availability). Tickets go on sale to the public on February 3 and are available to purchase at www.mortontheatre.com

Save the Date! Summer Camp Online Registration
The Leisure Services Department will launch summer camp online registration in March.
ACC residents may register starting Saturday, March 18 at 9:00 a.m. Non-residents may register starting Monday, March 20 at noon. All registration takes place at www.accgov.com/myrec
Camp opportunities will be posted in February.

Time for Scholarship Renewals
All Leisure Services Department scholarships expired on December 31 and need to be renewed.
Parents who are interested in applying/renewing a scholarship to use for summer camp registration, must do so prior to March 3, so staff
