Dear Vanguard Families,
It’s hard to believe everything that we have endured over the last 14 months. We thank you for the continued support, flexibility and patience that you have offered throughout these unusual times.
We are so pleased to inform you that beginning Monday, May 10, 2021, The Vanguard School will return to 5 day-per-week in-person instruction as per our school year calendar.
Several factors have led to this decision and below are the most salient points.
• To date, approximately 70% of the VFES workforce is vaccinated. While we know this doesn’t eliminate the possibility of contracting the virus, but we do know it is likely to reduce the severity.
• We are able to provide voluntary on-campus testing to all staff and select students. We are also able to provide on-campus testing to any student who becomes symptomatic during the school day (with written consent). If you haven’t registered your child for rapid testing and would like to do so please CLICK HERE.
• The deep cleaning guidelines from CDC and Chester County Health Department have evolved. At this time, the recommendation is to continue social distancing, mask-wearing, and cleaning surface areas throughout the day. We will continue to have porters in buildings throughout the school day for surface cleaning and will continue to provide deep cleaning in the event that a room needs to temporarily close.
The health and well-being of our staff, students and families continues to be our top priority and therefore, all other aspects of our Health & Safety Plan will remain intact for the duration of this school year. With the tremendous help of our COVID Case Managers, we will continue to closely monitor the number of close contacts and positive cases. We will revert back to hybrid should there be an increase in cases that jeopardize the health of individuals in a building or across campus.
Virtual learning remains an option for all families through the end of this school year. For planning purposes, if a student is registered to be on-campus for school (ie- not a 100% virtual learner), accessing virtual learning during the school day is not an option, unless discussed and approved in advance by your Program Supervisor. Please also note that all COVID Compensatory Data is now available in the parent portal.
We have notified transportation departments and our sending school districts of this schedule change. We suggest that you following up with your child’s bus driver to confirm your transportation status.
