Industry Relations

There is nothing better than having the Miami students back on campus! CEC students are excited about engaging with campus and industry professionals to prepare for the Career Fair and interviews and to explore what is possible as a Miami CEC graduate.
There are some incredible events scheduled for the students this semester, including those listed in the Upcoming Events section, company visits to campus, and many more activities planned by the CEC student organizations.

Courses and TechCred
The Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Department is offering courses and workshops in advanced manufacturing and materials evaluation that can be taken independent of other classes, as part of a degree/certificate program, used as professional development, or customized to meet your company's needs.  Check out the information on the courses here.
These courses pair well with Ohio TechCred funds.  With new changes to the TechCred program, employees can apply for TechCred but are not required to use the funds in the same month.  For example, an employee can apply for Ohio Tech Creds in March and take the advanced manufacturing and materials evaluation courses in the summer.
Society of Women Engineers

The Society of Women Engineers, also known as SWE, is a national organization with a Miami Chapter. Check out this video that the chapter created last spring.
Thanks to the generous donations from CEC's Women's Advisory Committee, the Charlotte R. Schmidlapp Fund, and Miami's Career Center Career Grant, ten Miami SWE members were able to attend the National SWE Conference in October at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
Events planned for this semester include bi-weekly meetings, movie and potluck night with NSBE and TTAU, mock interviews, and a Career Fair Prep Session.
If you would like to connect with Miami University's SWE Chapter or any other student organization, email Colleen Bush.
