Where Passion Meets Opportunity

Rutherford County receives nearly $600,000 in state funded grants to promote career pathways

Rutherford County Schools received $560,000 as a part of the 15 million in grants set aside in the 2017-2018 state budget to be used for equipment in the manufacturing and health science pathway.

Rutherford County Chamber & Rutherford Works received $16,000 in funds from the New Skills For Youth Grant, funded by the Pathways Tennessee office. These funds will be used towards building a new program of study to support the Supply Chain Management industry.

Additionally, the Chamber was awarded a Three Star Grant from the Department of Economic & Community Development in the amount of $5,000 to support the implementation of the new Work Ethics Distinction – a new distinction available to the Class of 2018.

Be a Career Pathway Partner

Trisha met with Rutherford County CTE (Career & Technical Education) teachers during an in-service on August 3 to share the Rutherford Works mission and programs, most notably the upcoming 8th Grade Career Pathway Fairs. The Fairs, hosted at each area middle school in November – December, help 8th graders select a program of study in high school that align with their interests and abilities, as well as current workforce demands.
