Deuteronomy 29:29
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

What difference does it make whether we align our lives with God?  Just as a front end alignment problem wears our car tires out, so a life out of alignment with God wears our lives out. 

There is a beautiful framed scroll on my office wall.  It is a section of Deuteronomy inscribed on animal skin.  The inscription on the frame says it comes from the fifteenth century.

Tallowood's organist, Lew Zailer studied it and said the scroll includes the blessings and curses of Deuteronomy 27-28.  Moses told the people that a life aligned with the Lord would be immeasurably blessed.  But a life against God would be cursed.  

The Israelites found out the hard way that Moses' words were true.  Some parts of scripture are still mysterious to us.  But the main things are the plain things.  God has shown us his ways in his word.  God does not realign with us, but we can become realigned with God.  The blessing of life with God lasts for generations to come.  What difference does it make?  All the difference!
Pray with me:        
Father, thank you for reconciling us to yourself through your Son.  We are not asking you to align with us but please realign us with you.  Let your blessing fall on us and our children and their children and their children.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.
