A Note from Hitinder Gurm
The essence of BMC2 is our ability to come together and learn from each other for the benefit of our patients. This issue of the newsletter is full of examples of our commitment to collaboration and the positive impact it can have, now and in the future.
We share new patient-facing resources, created through a partnership with our Patient Advisory Council. We also announce our new BMC2 PCI Advisory Council and improvements to report distribution.
We invite you to join our various workgroups and committees and we welcome you to approach us with any ideas you have about additional ways we can serve you as a member of the consortium and our patients.
We are grateful for these opportunities, and the improvements that result, as we move into the last quarter of 2023. THANK YOU for the work you do each day.

Updated PAC Recruitment Materials Available
We consulted our PCI Patient Advisory Council (PAC) to make updates to our patient-facing PAC recruitment materials. You can download these updated posters from our website. We encourage you to print them, hang them in your clinics and offices, and share them in patient information packets. You can contact the BMC2 Coordinating Center if you would like us to print copies and mail them to you. To learn more about the PAC and the collaborative projects we have completed in its 2-year history, visit the “Who We Are” section of our website.

New Patient-Facing Resources for Living with Heart Artery Stents
This spring, we asked our PCI Patient Advisory Council members which resources they would value receiving from their care teams. We used their feedback to outline a plan for rolling out patient-facing resources between now and early 2024. The first of those resources is now available. The “Lifetime Plan for Living with Heart Artery Stents” is a document outlining important steps for caring for oneself after a PCI procedure with items for each day and one week, one month, and one year and beyond. The document also includes links to resources from the American Heart Association and the Michigan Tobacco Quitline. To increase accessibility to this information, we created a brief video which you will find via this unlisted YouTube link. We are also working with a translation service to make versions available in Arabic and Spanish in the future. We are grateful to our PAC for helping us identify how we can care for our patients in increasingly supportive ways.

Reminder to Utilize the Contact Update Form to Update Contacts
Please use the Contact Update Form on bmc2.org to add, update, or remove contacts from your site. This is the most efficient way for BMC2 to ensure we are providing information to the relevant team members at your site. It also ensures the correct people have data entry and report receipt access and that new team members requiring training receive the appropriate information. You will find this link on our “Coordinator Resources” page under “BMC2 General Resources.”

New Process for Report Distribution
The BMC2 Coordinating Center will roll out a new process by which you will access your BMC2 reports beginning with Q2 2023 reports.
You will no longer access your reports via the password-protected side of bmc2.org. Instead, those with report access will receive a secure email to their inbox. Every quarter these links will expire, and you will be provided with a new link to your sites’ data. That link will take you to a directory with your updated current and previous reports. If you misplace your unique quarterly link, you can use our new lookup tool and have your information re-sent to you. This lookup tool will soon be accessible at https://www.bmc2.org/bmc2-member-login. Please do not request a new link from BMC2 staff. For more information about this change, including examples of what the emails will look like, read our blog.

New BMC2 PCI Advisory Council
More deeply engaging an advisory council in BMC2 strategic planning will strengthen the organization and benefit all consortium members.
Our new BMC2 PCI Advisory Council will include a diverse group of partners that represent the varied interests and priorities across our State. It will allow the consortium to better serve its members and ensure we are focusing on high-impact, high-value initiatives.
We propose a tri-annual meeting schedule to discuss high-level strategic directions and priorities for BMC2, including but not limited to:
- Overall strategic direction of BMC2 PCI
- Quality improvement initiatives, including P4P and VBR goals
- Consortium-wide meeting goals and topics
- Peer review goals and topics
- Opportunities/new initiatives

We are accepting volunteers and nominations for potential members until October 16th. Contact the Coordinating Center to volunteer or to nominate a Physician Champion, Coordinator, Quality Professional, and/or Cath Lab Team Member for consideration. Later this fall, we will select an initial slate of members using the criteria as discussed to ensure diverse geographic representation and keep others on our list for the future as we rotate on new members.
