Isabelle Rammel to Receive T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence Award |

|
Isabelle “Izzy” Rammel was notified at the Cavs Connect Mixer this week that she will be the recipient of Walsh’s highest honor, the T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence Award and will represent the Class of 2025 as the Commencement Speaker. The T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence Award is Walsh University’s most prestigious non-academic award given each year. It is presented annually at the President’s Dinner to the senior who had during her/his Walsh years displayed talented leadership, outstanding dedication to campus and community, a commitment to current and future Cavaliers, embodies core values of faith, excellence, integrity, service and community, and responsible extra-curricular distinction. | Read More

Samuel Krakowski Named Outstanding Student Award Recipient |
|
|
Samuel Krakowski will be receiving the 2025 Outstanding Student Award at this year’s President’s Dinner. As Walsh’s most prestigious academic honor, the outstanding senior recipient must have earned a very high cumulative grade point average (typically greater than 3.9) and demonstrated interdisciplinary excellence, a high level of intellectual curiosity and a consistent commitment to academic rigor and depth. | Read More

Excitement is Building Around 2025 Commencement |
On Saturday, May 3, Walsh University will confer degrees to more than 600 graduating students who will join the growing network of Walsh Alumni. The Commencement Ceremonies will be held in the Cecchini Health and Wellness Complex, Alumni Arena and livestreamed to the public.
The schedule, and information about parking and where to enter the building, is available at walsh.edu/commencement.

As part of its ongoing support for faculty development, Walsh University’s Center for Academic and Professional Enrichment (CAPE) invites faculty to attend two upcoming virtual sessions.
On Monday, April 14, at 4 p.m., Dr. Mike Dunphy and Dr. Adam Underwood will present “Faculty Self-Appraisal Best Practices,” reviewing Walsh’s current approach to faculty self-appraisals and offering recommendations for strengthening professional development, performance analysis, and continuous improvement. | Register Here
On Wednesday, April 23, at 3 p.m., Drs. Amy Heston, Seth Hepner, and Cary Dabney will lead “Boosting Course Enrollment Through Gen Ed Designations: A Closer Look into CH and CIT,” sharing practical strategies for incorporating Catholic Intellectual Tradition (CIT) and Cultural Humility (CH) designations into course design to help diversify and increase enrollment. | Register Here

The Walsh University Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Handbell Choir present their Spring Concert on Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in Alumni Arena. The concert will feature secular music including folk songs, love songs, and jazz vocals. Many soloists will be featured, including our 2025 graduates.

Student Art Exhibit, April 16 |
Celebrate the creative spirit of our campus community at the 2025 Student Art Exhibition. Join us for the opening reception on Wednesday, April 16, at 3:30 p.m. in the Birk Center for the Arts Gallery. The event will feature a vibrant collection of student artwork, including watercolor paintings, graphite drawings, ink illustrations, sculptures, oil pastel paintings, and more. Enjoy live music, student speakers, free refreshments, and an afternoon filled with the incredible talents of Walsh University students.

Arts in Stark: Creativity, Connection and Health Tickets Available |
Arts in Stark has graciously offered a free ticket for up to 25 Walsh University students and staff to attend their event, Creativity, Connection, and Health which will explore how the arts can play a significant role in improving overall health. Dr. Jeremy Nobel, a Harvard physician, author, and national expert on the intersection of arts and healing will be leading an engaging evening session on Wednesday, April 23 at 6 p.m. at the Cultural Center for the Arts, focusing on the powerful connection between creativity and well-being. Run For Freedom: Support the Fight Against Human Trafficking

The Mucci Team at Keller Williams Legacy Group is hosting the annual Run for Freedom to benefit Not For Sale: One Step At A Time, a Walsh University partner. Wear Not For Sale apparel and sneakers, and join the Cavs Coalition at the Jackson North Park Gazebo on Saturday, April 26, at 9:30 a.m. Whether you choose to walk or run, together, we will stand up against human trafficking and raise awareness in our community. This event is FREE and open to all! Free hot dogs, donuts, and water will be provided. Donations are welcome the day of the marathon and make a real impact. No pets allowed. See you there!

Walsh University’s Dance Marathon Program “Cavathon” held their 11th annual dance event Saturday, April 5, benefiting Akron Children’s Hospital and in support of the Children’s Miracle Network. Walsh students came together to celebrate a yearlong fundraising effort and welcome patients from Akron Children’s! Cavathon 2025 raised over $34,000 at the conclusion of the 8-hour main event. | Read More

Nearly 80 students, faculty, staff, and community members attended The Education for Life Colloquium Series on Monday evening. Dr. Andrew Newberg, Director of Research at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health at Thomas Jefferson University, discussed how cognitive neuroscience can provide insights into religious and spiritual experiences. The interfaith series, led by Professor of Theology Dr. Chris Seeman, is made possible with generous support from the Wilkof and Nolan families.

In a programming collaboration for members of the North Canton Public Library and Walsh University, Thomas Roblee created a music performance and demonstration highlighting Mallet Percussion Through World Cultures on April 3, 2025. Teaming with percussion duo partner Drew Andreatta, the diverse and technical performance showcased differences in performance styles of music from a variety of cultures and time periods.
