Oregon Wine Flies FreeOregon Wine Flies Free (OWFF), a partnership between the Oregon Wine Board (OWB), Alaska Airlines, and Travel Oregon, encourages out-of-state Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members to visit tasting rooms. It promotes tasting room sales by waiving the baggage fee on one case of Oregon wine for domestic return flights. While the partnership has been running continuously since 2013, OWB is excited to announce a promotional relaunch that includes the following:
- Newly designed print materials for tasting rooms
- Target digital ads running on Google and OWB social media channels
- Active promotion in OWB's consumer newsletter
As OWB, Alaska Airlines, and Travel Oregon begin ramping up promotion of Wine Flies Free again, we ask that you take a few simple steps to ensure your participation is visible to visitors:
- Remind your tasting room staff about the Oregon Wine Flies Free program and how it works. We occasionally hear from consumers who encounter tasting room staff that are unfamiliar with it and we now offer materials that serve as a training one-sheet.
- Check your listing in the tasting room directory to make sure your status as a participating winery is correct.
Wine Flies Free is an effective sales tool for wine tourists and provides an opportunity to educate customers on proper packaging of wine for air travel. If you have questions about the program, contact Neil Ferguson.
