Dear Denver Children’s Choir Community,

It is with a bit of sadness that I write this message to you all. I have been a conductor for the RMCC/DCC for 28 years. Next year will be my 29th. I have been the Music Director for 18 years. It has been the passion and joy of my life. I have conducted every ensemble level in the Choir and loved them all. I have been on too many tours and retreats to count. Every year has been a new and wonderful adventure.

I count myself lucky to have worked alongside the most talented, loving, and generous staff any organization could ask for. I’ve also had the immeasurable joy of working with Denver’s extraordinary youth. So many singers have come through our doors. Each year I am convinced is the BEST YEAR EVER! Getting to know our singers in a personal way is priceless to me. Staying connected with alumni is the icing on the cake (even though I don’t really like cake).

I am NOT going away. It is time for me to step into semi-retirement. What this means is, starting fall 2025, I will no longer be a co-conductor on Tuesday nights for Fourteeners, Mountain Aires, and Thin Air. I will, however, continue to lead Altitude on Sundays.

Tuesday nights will continue to be led by the amazing team of Travis, Merce, Frank, and Mary! These fantastic artists will take you to new heights and unique experiences. I have no doubt that our Premier Ensembles will continue to flourish under their leadership.

Lastly, I am so proud of the Denver Children’s Choir and what we as a community have built. We have remained true to our mission to never turn a singer away, to reach out to singers who would not have had the privilege of learning how to read music and sing were it not for the DCC, and to provide an inclusive environment where children are seen and valued for who they are. I will continue to support the DCC however I can.

P.S. There will be a casual reception for me after our fabulous Harmony of Children – Wishes, Hopes, and Dreams performance on May 3rd, Gates Hall, Newman Center. The concert is at 4:00pm – we’d love to see you there!
