Upcoming August Training of Facilitators Workshop

Texas CASA is excited to announce the dates for our next virtual Art of Facilitation for Pre-Service Training workshop in August! This training is designed to introduce participants to the foundations of engaging, learning-centered facilitation, explore creative and effective ideas for how to bring pre-service content to life and build relationships across the CASA training community. After completing this workshop, participants will be qualified to lead pre-service training per National CASA's standards.

CFE For All: Statewide Training

CFE For All is a virtual training held quarterly for those who are implementing Collaborative Family Engagement (CFE). The CASA network, Child Protective Services and Community-Based Care staff are invited to come together to learn about the fundamentals of CFE and have the opportunity for practical, hands-on application of the skills and tools presented. The next three-hour virtual training will be held on July 17 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. All participants will need to complete the 2-hour CFE E-Learning before attending the training session.

STAR Monthly Zoom: Bringing Youth Voices to Court

Please join the STAR Monthly Zoom on June 30 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., when we will host a CASA program panel to discuss how to bring youth voices to both court proceedings and court reporting. Youth in foster care have a right to express to the court their views on everything from the medical care they receive to their wishes for their future. CASA volunteers have a unique opportunity to advocate for youth in foster care to participate in the legal decisions being made for their future, whether it's attending court hearings, meeting privately with the judge, etc. Bring your questions for the panel and join us at our monthly Zoom to hear from your peers and share resources.

HGTX Training: Words Matter: The Impact of the Language We Use

Join the Heart Galleries of Texas on July 8 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for their post-permanency best practice training on inclusive adoption language presented by Erika Settles. This 1-hour training will provide knowledge and skills in best practices for working with children and families in foster care, adoption and guardianship. This training is open to all child welfare professionals working with families in foster care and adoption.  One CEU will be provided.

ChatGPT for Everyone: Free Online Training

This free one-hour, self-paced course provides an introduction to ChatGPT, a chatbot app built by OpenAI and powered by their models that can process text, image and audio inputs. You'll learn how to set up an account, write your first prompt and explore practical applications. The course includes video content, interactive exercises and quizzes. Designed for beginners, this course requires no prior experience with AI.

Recruitment Bounty: Tip of the Month

As we celebrate dads of all types during June, it is also the perfect time to recruit more men. Host a Dudes & Brews/BBQ event to celebrate your male volunteers and ask them to bring a friend to learn more about CASA. Rent a space where men typically gather, provide food and drink tickets, and have a male volunteer talk about their experience as a CASA volunteer. Encourage male staff or board members, and the media, to attend as well. Check out several Dudes & Brews events from CASA programs around the country.
