April 2024
Dear HI Hub Incubator,
As spring ushers in a season of renewal and growth, it's the perfect metaphor for what we strive to achieve here at the Incubator. This program is not just an initiative; it's a launching pad for the dreams and innovations of NYU students and alumni alike. By providing resources, mentorship, and a vibrant community of like-minded individuals, we're fostering the next generation of entrepreneurs and change-makers.
This month, we're excited to spotlight several upcoming events and opportunities that emphasize the value of the Incubator program:
Pitch Day in Tulsa, OK, May 2-4: A marquee event not to be missed, Pitch Day offers participants a unique platform to present their ideas to a panel of industry experts and investors. It's an invaluable opportunity for feedback, networking, and potentially life-changing connections.
New Cohorts of Applications: We're now accepting applications for our next cohort. If you've been nurturing an idea or a project that can make a difference, this is your chance to propel it forward. Successful applicants will not only gain entry into our supportive ecosystem but also compete for a prize of $20,000 to kickstart their venture.
Open Houses: Curious about what the Incubator has to offer? Join us at our open houses to learn more about the program, meet current participants, and discover how you can be a part of this innovative community.
We also have a small favor to ask. The strength of our program lies in our community — a network of ambitious, creative, and supportive individuals. If you know fellow NYU students or alumni who might benefit from joining the Incubator, please spread the word. Your recommendation could be the catalyst for someone's groundbreaking project.
Finally, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to all of you. Whether you're a participant, mentor, supporter, or simply a reader of our newsletter, your enthusiasm and support are what make the Incubator thrive. Together, we're not just building businesses; we're cultivating a brighter future for everyone involved.
Here's to a productive and inspiring April!
Warmest regards,
Dr. K

Scott PattersonWhat advice would you give to those pursuing their first business venture?
Learn how to do everything. Oftentimes, what I hear when I teach my classes is that people don't really know how to handle something like finances and aren’t going to do that themselves. They also might say that they don't really understand how to develop the product, and so they have to figure out who to hire for that. When you're first starting a company, you have to be everything: you have to be the Chief Marketing Officer, you have to be the Chief Financial Officer, and you have to understand the product immensely.
