How Unifocus Technology Can Help Hotels Comply with Fair Workweek Laws Unifocus, an all-in-one Workforce Management Platform, and their COO Ken Heymann believe that the hospitality industry is facing challenges in attracting, retaining, and managing their workforce, which is already impacted by worker shortages. The industry has fallen behind other sectors in addressing the needs of today’s workforce, particularly their need for a better work/life balance. Furthermore, there are a growing number of laws and regulations setting new standards for providing suitable workplace conditions. The fair workweek laws, also known as predictive scheduling laws, are intended to provide service sector employees with a much better grasp of juggling responsibilities both inside and outside of work, which is becoming an industry-wide priority. To implement predictive schedule policies and meet the requirements of these laws, hotels can leverage technology to sidestep potential stumbling blocks and eliminate any adverse effects on hotel services. Such technology can also help automatically identify and implement relevant fair workweek rules as schedules are generated, bypass any guesswork and the risk of human error that may lead to incurring penalties.

Hoteza Is Using Biometrics to Verify Photo-based IdentificationHoteza, an interactive, guest-facing platform, is beginning to utilize biometric technology, particularly facial recognition, to enable safe, secure, and contactless check-in and check-out processes for guests. This technology also enables identity verification beyond check-in, allowing guests seamless and secure access to other services, such as entertainment, information, and communication. Additionally, the use of biometrics is helping to save hotel businesses money. For example, the automated capture of credit card information by scanning or reading only relevant payment data and enabling self-service automated scanning of driver’s licenses, national IDs, and passports can reduce operational costs. Overall, the use of biometrics in the hospitality industry offers a blend of familiarity and ease-of-use with modern, secure, and innovative technology that can improve the guest experience and streamline operations.
