CULI 1810 – Fundamentals of Culinary Medicine
Are you interested in taking a unique elective course at GW's School of Medicine?
Summer 2025 Semester - First Session (May 19 - June 28) Monday and Wednesday mornings 9:30 to Noon
Fall 2025 Semester - Lecture/Lab course with lecture on Tuesday at 1:00 PM and labs offered Monday morning, Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon.
CULI 1810: Fundamentals of Culinary Medicine
Fundamentals of Culinary Medicine teaches students the practical skills to realistically apply nutrition concepts to impact their own life and those around them though great tasting food that happens to be good for them. This course provides a comprehensive overview of nutrition and application of nutrition principles through culinary medicine. The course includes hands-on cooking classes, didactic lectures, guest speakers and field trips. Topics covered include basic nutrition concepts, evaluating research, recipe development and modification, food security and barriers to healthy eating, inflammation and an anti-inflammatory diet, food allergies and intolerances, and food policy.
Classes are held in-person at the Seva Teaching Kitchen. The course will include hands-on cooking sessions, didactic lectures, guest speakers, and field trips. The course is a Lecture / Lab series. For the Fall 2025 semester lectures are held most but not all Tuesdays from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
The course is appropriate for undergraduate students who are interested in learning about and improving their own, culinary skills, nutrition literacy, and/or health and for students seeking careers in medicine, health, and nutrition.

ADEA AADSAS Fee Assistance Program and Webinar
ADEA administers the ADEA AADSAS® Fee Assistance Program (FAP), a fee waiver program supporting applicants facing financial constraints during the dental school application process. Eligible applicants approved for FAP receive a fee waiver for three dental school applications in ADEA AADSAS, a value of $494.
ADEA has implemented some updates to the FAP application and process for the 2025-26 ADEA AADSAS cycle. Here are important details to note:
The 2025 FAP application will be open April 16 – June 1. Applicants need to apply with a DENTPIN instead of an ADEA AADSAS ID number.
The FAP Help Center, now including the application instructions, has been updated HERE.
Applicants will be notified of the decision on June 13, and approved applicants will have 30 days (until July 13) to use a waiver in ADEA AADSAS.
The application process, eligibility requirements, and benefit will remain the same.
To support these changes, the ADEA FAP webpage and the FAP Help Center have been updated. Instructions are located in the Help Center.
ADEA will host an ADEA AADSAS FAP Information webinar on Wednesday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. ET. REGISTER NOW.

The University of Maryland Medical Center is working to fill part-time Care Management Technician positions for their practice in Baltimore, MD. Pre-health graduates are encouraged to apply. There are different types of schedules.
Why this is a great position for pre-health graduates:
Work directly with patients
Provide a variety of services to the department that requires thorough knowledge of departmental practices and procedures.
Assist by supporting the core functions of the department and discharge planning.
Creates discharge packets for patients going to skilled nursing facilities.
Assists with communication with patients and families, payers, customers, and department staff through email, encrypted text, phone, fax, virtual phone conferences, and filing in the share drive.

IntimMedicine Specialists | Clinical Research PAID Internship
IntimMedicine Specialists- an OB/GYN/Women’s Health Clinic in Dupont Circle, is looking for a new clinical research coordinator/intern. IntimMedicine Specialists, is a private medical practice and independent investigative research site, conducting
pharmaceutical and medical device sponsored clinical trials. The practice founder, James A. Simon, MD has served as Principal Investigator on more than 300 clinical trials, research grants and scholarships. We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Research Intern to join our team working in the field of women’s health with a focus on menopause and sexual health. The Intern will assist in a variety of clinical research activities, including data collection, analysis, and report writing, and work directly with the Principal Investigator (PI) and sub-investigator to provide the highest quality care to all research subjects. The Intern works closely with the sponsor’s clinical research associates (CRAs) to ensure seamless execution of all clinical trials. This internship
provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in advancing their career in clinical research, particularly in women’s health.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Recruit study participants by reviewing protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria
• Perform protocol activities such as reviewing informed consents, obtaining patient medical histories, taking vital signs, and assisting clinicians with physical and ultrasound exams, while ensuring patient safety
• Study patient chart organization, data entry (i.e. electronic case report forms)
• Manage regulatory documentation (training, IRB submission, licenses, etc.)
• Process lab specimens in accordance with IATA and OSHA procedures
• As time permits, work with the clinical team to assist with general office responsibilities including answering phones, managing patient schedules, processing labs, and assisting doctors and physician assistants
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a science field, or other related discipline
• Strong interest in women’s health, particularly menopause and sexual health
• Previous clinical experience (shadowing, work, etc.) and understanding of medical terminology
• Basic understanding of clinical research methodologies and protocols
• Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, a team player, and able to multitask
