planting encore azaleas
Planting Encore Azaleas in your landscape this year? We're here to provide some helpful tips to ensure successful planting and bingeworthy blooms that will last all season long:
1. Azaleas thrive in slightly acidic, well-drained soil that contains high amounts of decomposed organic material. Spring planting requires watering well. Keep soil moist until the winter, once established they do not require frequent watering.
2. Encore Azaleas perform best in full sun to high filtered shade. Four to six hours of direct sunlight daily will help guarantee optimal blooms!
3. Mulch your newly planted Encore Azaleas with three inches or less of pine bark or pine needles. Mulch will help maintain soil moisture, help control weeds and help protect the azalea roots during extreme temperatures.
4. Prune your Encore Azaleas immediately after spring flowering for the maximum bud set and avoid cutting off the new incoming flowers for the coming seasons.
