We reached out last week regarding preparing for your Specialized Practice Year. We believe we may have missed some eligible students, so we're reaching out again. We apologize for this oversight and for the duplicate email!
Please see information below about the Specialized Practice Year process, which involves two components: the required Specialized Practicum Questionnaire and the optional Specialization Application.
Specialized Practicum Questionnaire
Between December and January, you will meet with your Faculty Advisor to discuss your Practicum learning interests and needs for your Specialized Practice Year. Please review the documents in the Specialized Year Practicum Process Information folder to prepare for the Practicum matching process and the discussion with your Faculty Advisor.
Your required Specialized Practicum questionnaire and updated resume must be submitted through thePracticum Education Portalby Monday, February 3, 2025.
Please be sure to log in with your NYU Net ID and Password.
Select Student Web Form on the right side of the page, select the term of Fall 2025 or Summer 2025 for 32-month students, and complete the Specialized Practice Questionnaire.
If you are also applying to a Specialization, please be sure that is noted on your Questionnaire.
Specialization Application
Optionally, MSW students may also apply to join a Specialization. These competitive learning opportunities provide access to a focused practicum placement, related seminars and/or classroom learning. Many of these Specializations offer stipends or scholarships, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Students are encouraged to attend the information sessions listed in the descriptions above to learn more. To apply to a Specialization, please complete theSpecialization Application. You will need to be signed in to your NYU Gmail account to do so. TheSpecialization Aplication is due by Monday, February 3, 2025.
Please note that if you do not choose to apply to a Specialization, you will still be matched to a rich learning experience based on your chosen Field of Practice and learning priorities, as indicated on your Practicum questionnaire.
