Seeking Your Feedback
How do you De-stress?

Last month we asked how people de-stress in their jobs. We have begun to get some great ideas, and have started to create a list of suggestions so that we all can benefit from the ideas. So many of us have created innovative ways to de-stress in our jobs. Some ideas include:
  • Go for a walk
  • Practice meditation
  • Read a book
  • Unplug from social media
Please take a moment and share how you are practicing self-care, de-stressing and working to overcome professional burnout. We will include the full list of your ideas in the next PAC Newsletter.
Click here to email a list of your suggestions to Jody Gross.
A Note from PAC Leader Kim Pederson
“Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Steve Jobs
This quote speaks to me of the work we do in the realm of patient advocacy, and how we continue to believe we can change this environment for all our patients. We fight for patient-centered care in this fast-changing healthcare arena. And I hate to have you add one more thing to your already full plate, but you are change agents in addition to all you already do so add that to your resume! You are the ones asking the hard questions, pushing the envelope with clinical staff and administration, bringing data and patient comments to the table to back up your points, working to implement best practices from other organizations-you are change agents.
It’s a big responsibility, but critically important to assure the work we do is making an impact on our patients and families. So basically, I am saying we are the crazy ones and guess what they need our type of “crazy” to be in the patients’ corner. Thank you for being incredible advocates for change in the work you do every day.
