Stormwater sees record RainfallIt is no secret that rain has become a common occurrence here on campus. In the past six months we’ve seen 33.5 inches of rain, over a 910-acre campus, which is enough water to fill 1254 Olympic sized swimming pools! No matter how you put it, it’s a lot of water. To manage the almost 3 feet of rain that has fallen on the campus over the past 6 months, the Stormwater Management team of Facilities Services has been busy making sure all grates, inlets, drains and infrastructure is operating at full capacity.

UT Recycling is busy getting ready for RecycleMania! The 8-week program challenges residence halls to compete against each other to see which one can be the greenest at UT. This participation helps UT fare well against other universities in the national RecycleMania competition. Points are given based on how much the residents of each hall recycle and participate in RecycleMania events. The competition will feature more than 19 free events and activities that encourage Zero Waste living through reducing, reusing, refusing, recycling, and rotting (composting) practices. So do your part to make sure your hall doesn’t get trashed by the others! Clement Hall is the defending 2018 RecycleMania Champion: will they be usurped or defend the title? Join us for our RecycleMania Kick-Off party in Hodges Library on Monday, Feb. 4, and bring your own mug to get FREE hot chocolate.
