The Next 125 Years of Civic Engagement at the University of Chicago
The Next 125 years of civic engagement at UChicago
As part of the University's ongoing series of events to commemorate its 125th anniversary, on October 27, the Office of Civic Engagement hosted a panel discussion entitled the "Next 125 Years of Civic Engagement at the University of Chicago" focused on ways the local community and UChicago are engaging with each other around education and violence prevention to benefit the South Side. Following the panel, the audience was invited to gather in small groups to explore additional ways for the University and community members to partner and collaborate.

Introducing the Urban Research Review
The Office of Civic Engagement is partnering with the University of Chicago Urban Network to share exciting developments in faculty research on important urban issues. Partner Spotlight: The University of Chicago Medicine's Community Benefit Report
In the recently published 2014 Community Benefit Report, Connected to our Community, the University of Chicago Medicine highlights the dozens of initiatives it administers to take direct aim at diabetes, childhood obesity and asthma, and cancer, which are among the most pressing health needs in the communities served by the medical center. The report also describes UChicago Medicine's deep connections to local neighborhoods through many new and longstanding partnerships with community organizations, health care providers and advocates. With these partners, the medical center invests in innovative and proven strategies to link more patients to high-quality services and vital primary and specialty care close to home. Last year, UChicago Medicine contributed $316 million to improve the health of the South Side and broader Chicago area, a 12 percent increase over the previous year.
