FIT4MOM of the Month: Meet Erin Tilley!
1) Hometown: Charlotte, NC
2) Kiddos: Niles (7 months) and Nora (two, well..three in August)
3) Hobbies: Ummm...avoiding folding laundry? Delaying emptying the dishwasher Until there is no more room in the skink? Does that count? I mean, I am pretty good at both.
4) Why I Love FIT4MOM Chapel Hill: "Find a community of people & friends who support you in parenthood, health & life, and your life is forever changed". I cannot tell you how much this quote speaks to me. After I had my second child, I was in the worst shape of my life; physically, mentally and emotionally. I wasn't in a good place and was desperately seeking change. I didn't know what kind of change I needed, but I knew something had to give. One night, I was on Facebook and saw a post about Body Back and I immediately knew this was what I needed. I needed something to help pull me out of the darkness and into the light. I signed up that night. Truth be told, I kinda thought it would be like all of my other attempts to lose weight; I'd do it for about a month before giving up. Little did I know how much my life was about to change for the better. From the first class, I felt comfortable and incredibly supported. I never felt judged that I couldn't do a mountain climber, an overhead press or more than five sit-ups. These beautiful mothers supported me in a way I didn't know existed. These mamas got more excited than I did when I reached a goal. I was actually looking forward to working out! I joined Stroller Strides and found even more supportive mamas. I decided to join run club with the goal of running the Tar Heel Four Miler. I never thought I'd be able to run one mile, much less four! But I did it. I'll never forget seeing the tears in Amy's eyes as I rounded the last turn before the finish line. And now I'm starting to believe I can....that I can be healthy, that I can be the strong mother I want to be, that I can lose the weight that I've always struggled with. And that's why I love Fit4Mom. I joined looking for my village, and I have gotten so much more. Not only have I found this wonderful village of mamas, but I've also started to find my own strength and confidence that I didn't know I could have. I'm starting to believe in ME. I have found a community of people and friends who support me in parenthood, health and life...and they have forever changed my life. For that, I am forever grateful.
