Northpointe students recognized in fall 2021 Dean’s List; librarian featured for promoting teaching excellence; choir director discusses male voice change; and more
Tired of changing his son’s diaper on the men’s room floor, 2009 graduate Donte Palmer posted a photo on Instagram that led to a national campaign pushing for changing tables in all public restrooms. His organization, Squat for Change, has since expanded to offer other help to parents—especially to fathers and in particular Black fathers, who he says are often written off. See which IUP at Northpointe undergraduates made the Dean’s List last semester by earning a grade point average of 3.25 or higher on at least 12 semester hours of graded coursework.
The Center for Teaching Excellence spotlights Theresa McDevitt, IUP Libraries. As the center’s codirector for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, McDevitt shares resources to inspire faculty to study and improve their teaching and to publish their discoveries. She also helps faculty find open and affordable educational resources and grant opportunities to help students save money.
Craig Denison, Department of Music, recently presented “Finding Meaning in Boys’ Singing” at the American Choral Directors Association’s National Children and Youth Retreat in Arizona. His session focused on anatomic and other aspects of male voice change.
