From the Department Chair
Dear alumni, friends and supporters:
The Department of Marketing has had a busy Spring 2025. Of note: Our fifth Marketing Research Symposium was the largest yet, bringing together over 60 faculty and Ph.D. students from 10 universities to discuss academic research. The keynote speaker was Charlie Noble, a Professor of Marketing at the University of Tennessee and co-editor of the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
Our second CU Insights Week featured six marketing research professionals and a marketing research competition. Over 200 students participated in the various events to learn more about careers in marketing research. Thanks to Mike Courtney (Aperio Insights), Suann Griffin, Ryan Kantor (Georgia Pacific), Taylor Hobgood (Ally Bank), Julissa Munguia (SKIM Research) and MK Peterson (SKIM Research) for taking the time to visit campus and meet with our students!
Twenty-five members of the Marketing Student Advisory Board spent a day learning from marketing professionals at companies in Atlanta. Thank you to Coca-Cola, Ammunition and Chick-fil-A for hosting our students!
The 15th Annual Tiger Paw Classic, a student-run golf tournament, raised over $28,000 for scholarships and Ripple of One, a Seneca, SC-based organization that empowers families and young adults to move beyond public assistance. In its history, this event has raised over $325,000 for charities and scholarships, in addition to being a great hands-on learning experience for numerous students.
We recognized some of our top students at the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business Honors and Awards Day, including Josh Palmer, Katie Trenchard, Wynn Bartee, Savannah Shuler, Madi Deschamps, Mia Fotia, Sarah Buford, Isabelle Roy, Alyssa Neff, Marah Hanson and Sierra Leahy. We're fortunate to have so many strong students (I wish we could formally recognize more), but these students stood out by consistently excelling in the classroom and beyond.
We're preparing for Clemson's Spring graduation. Over 370 Marketing majors, including 38 graduate (M.S.) students, will graduate.
This is but a short list of the many great things going on in the department, things we couldn't do without the generous support of our industry partners, donors, and others. Thank you! If you're looking for opportunities to contribute, either financially or by giving your time to support students and faculty, please let me know. We'll find ways to get you plugged in. And when you're next on campus, feel free to stop by to see the department and say hello. As always, Go Tigers!
