Welcome to our new and improved e-newsletter, The NHSA Exchange! This bi-weekly publication is focused on YOU, our valued members and partners, and we aim to make it a place to have a shared exchange of the news, stories, opportunities, and resources that are most important to you. It replaces our former HS Newsbytes, which while loved, was due for an update. We hope you enjoy it, and don't be afraid to tell us what you think at any time!

IRS Withdraws Proposed Rule Regarding Collection of Donor Taxpayer Information
The Internal Revenue Service withdrew a proposed rule that would have required charitable organizations to collect and report sensitive donor information, including Social Security numbers, for donations of $250 or more. Reacting to public comments, mobilized by nonprofit sector leaders, the IRS recognized the potential for a decrease in donor support and a potential increased burden on nonprofits to expand infrastructure to store protected data in accordance with the law.
Impact of Volunteers on Sustainable Development Goals
NHSA's Volunteer Development Council recently hosted a presentation by Kathleen Dennis, Executive Director of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE). The presentation and discussion focused on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and how IAVE and other nonprofits can leverage volunteers as a powerful means of implementation toward those goals.
