| Corn Silage Dry Down Monitoring Tool
The University of Wisconsin Madison Division of Extension has a long history of partnering with cooperatives, feed dealers, growers, forage councils and consultants to offer a network of silage dry down events across the state to help growers monitor whole plant moisture, and 2025 will be no different. One exciting update to our 2025 Corn Silage Harvest monitoring project is a new tool to help growers, crop consultants and nutritionists track silage dry down event results across the state. This application provides the monitoring of whole corn plant moisture, planting dates, and hybrid relative maturities, helping growers make data-driven decisions related to their silage harvest to better meet their farm’s forage quality goals.

| Check your corn Silage Processing during harvest
We know feed is one of the most valuable assets on any farm, often the most important. That’s why silage-making deserves careful attention and the best possible practices to ensure high-quality nutrition for your dairy cows. The right time to check your kernel processing is when you can make adjustments and correct incomplete processing, during harvest. The method described in this article only requires a couple of simple tools, and is easy to do, even out in the field.
