Hi Neighbor!

Are you traveling anywhere for Labor Day weekend? Over the past year or so I’ve gotten hooked on podcasts for long road trips. Here are five of my favorites:
Strangers – Hosted by Peabody award-winning producer Lea Thau. Episodes feature true stories of love, loss, heartbreak and connections made (and missed) from people around the globe. After listening to an episode, the world somehow feels smaller and more intimate. (Some of that might have to due with Thau’s voice, which I have a minor obsession with…just listen and you’ll know what I mean.)
Death, Sex & Money – A podcast about the three things people never want to discuss but are endlessly curious about. Host Anna Sale chats with celebrities and regular folks about how they face these “taboo” forces in their lives.
The Longest Shortest Time – A parenting show for new parents, grandparents, stepparents and even those who are unsure if they ever want to be parents. (One of the show’s most buzzed-about episodes was an interview with Fresh Air host Terri Gross on her decision NOT to have children). Hosted by Hillary Frank.
Dear Sugar – Hosts Cheryl Strayed (author of the bestselling memoir Wild) and Steve Almond answer agonizing letters from listeners with stunning compassion and wisdom. Almond often works in classical literature references, which the English major in me always appreciates.
Radiolab Presents: More Perfect – A fascinating new series about the obscure world of the Supreme Court from Radiolab (another great podcast!).

Just a reminder that we’re off next week but will return after Labor Day with loads of fun activities and events to fill your fall calendar.

Stay Tuned!

C.A.S.E./FLITE Golf Outing
Sunday, September 25th
Registration 8:00 AM, Shotgun Start 9:00 AM
Downingtown Country Club
93 Country Club Drive, Downingtown

For the 9th consecutive year, C.A.S.E invites you to continue the tradition of “Moving forward, by giving back” to T/E Schools. Have fun and contribute to the success of current students in the District. Without the help of FLITE-funded programs, hundreds of students in our school district would be without the basic academic tools and support they need. Each student has access to a top-notch education, but it’s hard to take full advantage of it if your family cannot afford things like home Internet, a computer or after school homework support. Join the effort to help ensure that no child falls through the cracks and fails to live up to his or her potential due to a financial struggle at home or lack of resources at school.
