Insightful District 5 Town Hall
I appreciated the opportunity to meet with D5 constituents at the town hall meeting in May at The Reserve and enjoyed the insightful questions and discussion. We talked about a variety of topics from law enforcement to education and I want to thank Huntsville Police Capt. Stephen Anderson, HPD Community Relations Officers Zefen Riggins and Clinton Baker and Huntsville City Schools Board President Carlos Mathews for their attendance and willingness to take part in the conversation.

New Leaders Highlight President's Forum
At the June President’s Forum, we heard from recently appointed leaders at City Hall who provided details on their work and plans to help Huntsville continue to shine. Joining me at the dais was Allen Muzny, Director of Inspections; Randy Barbour, Director of Multicultural Affairs; Larry Lowe, Chief Innovation Officer; and Amy Nordstrom Jones, Affordable Housing Manager.

Adventist Boulevard Improvements
Thanks to community feedback received during the May President’s Forum, improvements are coming to Adventist Boulevard. After citizen concerns were shared at the forum about the intersection of Millennium Drive and Adventist Boulevard, Traffic Engineering determined that signage to warn vehicles of upcoming traffic lights will enhance safety at the intersection for both commuters and pedestrians.

Alabama League of Municipalities
I enjoyed attending the Alabama League of Municipalities reception at the Von Braun Center during its annual conference. The event brought city leaders from across the state to Huntsville to share ideas and best practices. Council Members Jennie Robinson, Bill Kling and I also had the pleasure of spending time with former council member Glenn Watson at the reception.

Support for Ability Plus Inc.
It’s a privilege to support businesses that support our community and that is why I allotted $7,000 to Ability Plus Inc. from the District 5 Community Improvement Fund to provide funding for clients with limited resources to go toward residential needs and other expenses. I presented the check to Ability Plus CEO Karockas “Doc Rock” Watkins and thanked him and his team for the efforts in providing quality-of-life opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Welcoming Titomic to Huntsville
It's always exciting to see companies discover all we have to offer in Huntsville. So it was an honor to attend the ribbon cutting for Titomic’s new global headquarters and manufacturing facility in District 5. Titomic, a manufacturer of advanced metal additive manufacturing systems, opened a 59,000 square foot facility on Alabama Highway 20 that will expand access to high-throughput cold spray manufacturing and repair capabilities for U.S. customers in aerospace, defense and industrial sectors.

Kids to Love New Facility Tour
I appreciated the invitation from Kids to Love Founder/CEO Lee Marshall for a tour of their new mental wellness center that is under construction in District 5. The facility, expected to open later this year, will include therapy rooms and a clinic and is intended to help meet the needs of children who have experienced trauma.
