Good morning! The School of Nursing has established an undergraduate scholarship program; Gary Wiser, assistant dean of students and director of fraternity and sorority life, received the Accolade for Interfraternal Service Award; Clemson World reflects on the influence of Barbara Kennedy-Dixon and more.

What to know today:

The School of Nursing has received a $2 million contribution from the Bedford Falls Foundation-DAF to establish the Joanne and William Conway Nursing Scholarship program to support the undergraduate nursing education of students from communities across South Carolina.

Established by Bill Conway (pictured above) and his late wife, Joanne Barkett Conway, the Bedford Falls Foundation focuses its philanthropy on supporting nursing education.

Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Gary Wiser (pictured left) was recently honored by his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order, as the organization’s 36th recipient of the Accolade for Interfraternal Service. The award was presented at the annual conference of the Southeastern Greek Leadership Association (SGLA), with Wiser serving as its executive director from 2014-25.

Darris Means (pictured right), the College of Education’s inaugural dean’s fellow for rural education, was elected in 2025 by the National Rural Education Association (NREA) as president-elect designate. The NREA has evolved into a strong and respected organization of various members interested in maintaining the vitality of rural school systems across the country.

An all-time great basketball player and longtime Athletics staff member, the late Kennedy-Dixon left an indelible mark on her beloved alma mater and its people.
