As the cocreator of an art installation and gathering place in Philadelphia, a doctoral student and Iraqi refugee is both sharing his home culture and exploring the notions of belonging and healing—all while applying what he’s learned at IUP.
As the mathematics curriculum quality-control lead for Public Consulting Group and Educational Testing Service, Yong Colen (Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences) oversaw the quality of the preparation course for the Praxis teacher certification exam.
Laura Ferguson, Department of Music, recently provided in-service professional development for teachers in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s District 8, which encompasses parts of the northern tier. Her sessions covered jazz-choir basics and multimedia resources for instruction.
