Ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
New International Version (NIV)
"No by-words . . ." One of the saints at Pleasant Grove,  Flourine Hudson told me that her family did not allow her to use any by-words.  My sweet Baptist mom allowed for a dang or a darn, but nothing beyond.  Is it me or has the currency of verbiage been devalued in recent years?  So what qualifies as unwholesome or "corrupting," as the ESV translates it?

As believers, we are being transformed by Christ into his likeness.  He did not use words that harmed others or caused them to sin in any way.  One way to look at purity of speech is how our words affect others.

Words fitly spoken bring out the best in us and others.  All around us today are people who need to hear good news.  Paul believed our words can build others up according to their needs.  We want to benefit and bless those who listen to us today.

Pray with me:
Father, let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in your sight, O Lord our Rock and our Redeemer.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
