Welcome to the April edition of the SOLVE-CHD monthly updates 2022. This monthly e-newsletter will keep you up to date with the key progress of the SOLVE-CHD projects and provide updates on our events and initiatives. Simply 
email solve-chd.info@sydney.edu.au if you wish to share/add anything from your area that is directly/indirectly related to the SOLVE-CHD program. We would also strongly encourage you to share your research highlights and successes that is relevant to cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention with us so that we can celebrate your achievements with our network.

SOLVE-CHD  Researcher Spotlight April
Joseph Weddell 
PhD Candidate  
Joseph Weddell is a registered nurse with a comprehensive background in intensive care and cardiothoracic surgery. Joe holds 8 years critical care experience, working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in intensive care. His flagship study aims to use a large cohort study design composed of participant from across multiple NSW cardiac rehabilitation programs. It will explore the prevalence and features of cognitive impairment in ACS, provide validation of a 5-minute screening tool for use in detecting cognitive impairment in this population, and will also include a qualitative component to explore their perceptions of “brain fog” and their potential educational needs in secondary prevention provision. SOLVE-CHD is offering up to 10 full scholarships for ACRA members ($600 each) and students ($450 each) to attend the 2022 annual ASM at the Gold Coast.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow Opportunities at the interface of CVD and Sleep, University of Sydney 

The Charles Perkins Centre and Northern Clinical School have an exciting opportunity available for two experienced researchers to join the Sleep Research Group to work closely with the study team on an NHMRC investigator grant investigating the links between sleep disordered breathing and cardiovascular diseases. 
  • 2 x Full time 3 year fixed term
  • Base Salary Level A step 6 – Level B step 2 ($98,645-$115,010)  + 17% superannuation

Cardiac Rehabilitation Engagement Project 

If you are a researcher, GP, cardiologist, nurse or allied health clinician, we would like to hear from you for Bridget Abell's qualitative research project examining the current context of CR delivery in Australia including engagement strategies, barriers and enablers to increasing participation from the system level.
