Good morning! It's commencement week — ceremonies start tomorrow and continue through Friday evening. Construction begins on the Williamson Road Parking Garage, the Research Symposium takes place this week and ComPsych offers a live webinar on fostering good conversations.

What to know today:

More than 5,000 students are set to earn bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees this week in Littlejohn Coliseum.

- Doctoral Commencement is set for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, followed by Commencement for bachelor’s and master’s degree candidates across three ceremonies (9 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 6 p.m.) on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9. All Commencement ceremonies are streamed live on Clemson TV.

Construction begins soon on the new Williamson Road Parking Garage, with fencing going up today around the C-2 parking lot. The garage is scheduled for completion in fall 2027.

Clemson University is extending the shadow phase of its revenue-based budgeting (RBB) implementation to ensure a strong foundation for long-term success. The new timeline reflects the University’s commitment to making this adjustment strategically and intentionally by prioritizing thorough development over speed.

NEWS AND UPDATES

Two students, Joseph Pope Jr. and Charles Segars III, received the Order of the Silver Crescent from the State of South Carolina for exemplary community contributions when they saved the lives of two accident victims from fire in September 2023.

The Research Symposium takes place this Wednesday, May 7 at the Watt Family Innovation Center. Faculty will join together to share ideas on amplifying the impact of research through the media, building interdisciplinary collaboration, translating discoveries and more.

- The event includes the announcement of the Researcher of the Year, along with updates from Provost Bob Jones and Tanju Karanfil, senior vice president for research, scholarship and creative endeavors. A panel discussion with associate deans for research from each college will also take place.
