4-H Fall Kick-Off Committee Seeking Help

The date for the kick-off is Wednesday, October 4, 6:30 pm at the UWO Fond du Lac Campus. I will be reaching out to all those who are committed to helping plan this event in the next two weeks to schedule the planning meeting.  
If interested in helping plan the Kick-Off the committee is meeting on Thursday, September 14 from 5:30-7:00 pm at UWO Fond du Lac Campus. Please email Tracy

Pick Up 4-H Projects at Gallery & Frame Shop

The exhibit will run from July 27th - August 31st. Items may be picked up during their business hours after August 31st at the Gallery & Frame Shop. National 4-H Dairy Youth Conference

The National 4-H Dairy Youth Conference is October 1-4, 2023 in Madison, WI. The conference is for youth ages 15-18 years old, who are eager to learn more about the dairy industry. Students will have the chance to go on different farm tours, other industry-focused tours, listen in on different speakers, and be able to attend World Dairy Expo. 

Registration Information:
 Registrations for both teen conference delegates and chaperones are due by September 11, 2023. The registration fee for 2023 is $650/person.  This includes lodging from Sunday, October 1 through Wednesday, October 4 (checkout on Thursday morning), most meals, and transportation during the conference. Fall Forum

Wisconsin 4-H and the Wisconsin 4-H Leadership Council are excited to host Fall Forum 2023!  Mark your calendars for November 4-5, 2023 at the Green Lake Conference Center in Green Lake, WI.
Fall Forum is a statewide conference that brings 4-H youth and adult leaders together to connect, collaborate, celebrate, and build excitement and energy for a new year of 4-H.  It is for youth in grades 7-13, adult volunteers, and staff.  It’s a great opportunity for youth and volunteers to discover and explore their sparks and make new friends from all across the state.  This year’s theme is “Building Connections in All Directions.”  Everyone will leave inspired and ready for a great 4-H year! Awards and Recognition

Citizenship, Leadership, & 4-H Growth Achievement Awards  

Citizenship, Leadership, and 4-H Growth Achievement awards may be earned by members who have completed ninth grade or above. Members may either be self-nominated or nominated by their leader. It is a short application and needs two recommendations. Applications are due to the Extension Office by September 15. Recipients will be announced at the county achievement program. Forms are available from the Extension Office, your club general leader, or on the web at https://fonddulac.extension.wisc.edu/4h/awards-scholarships/ ***New this year, the applicants will interview in addition to the application. ***

Apply for the 2023 4-H Key Award

The Key Award is the highest state 4-H award earned by members who have shown consistent growth in their 4-H involvement, developed and applied their leadership skills, and actively participated in their 4-H club and community. Youth in grades 11-13 are eligible to apply. Up to 4 recipients from Fond du Lac County can be selected. To be eligible for an award, you must turn in a completed application by September 15 and interview. You can find the application at  https://fonddulac.extension.wisc.edu/4h/travel-experiences-a/. Details on other opportunities can also be found on the website listed above. 

Adult Volunteer Recognition

It is time to nominate 4-H volunteers and businesses to be recognized for their contributions.  There are four categories: 1.) 4-H Alumni - given to an individual who, at one time, was a 4-H member and currently shows much support for the 4-H Program. Two to four (2-4) awards may be given annually. 2.) Meritorious Leader - given to an individual who was not a 4-H member; however currently shows much concern and responsibility as a 4-H Leader (i.e. not 4-H Alumni). One to two (1-2) awards may be given annually. 3.) Friend of 4-H - given to an individual, business, or group from the community that has shown much support for the 4-H Program in a variety of ways. One (1) award is given annually. 4.) 4-H Volunteer of the Year (less than 10 years of service) Lifetime Volunteer of the Year (10 or more years of service) - given to individuals who have done an outstanding job of volunteering.
