Area Animal Science Day Registration is Open!

Check out the 4-H Website for more information about these contests: https://4h.extension.wisc.edu/.../area-animal-science-days/

Participant Registration: Youth in grades 3-8 are invited to compete in the junior division, while youth in grades 9-13 are invited to compete in the senior division. Participants MUST register individually.

To register, please go to 4-H Online (v2.4honline.com), log in to your account, and click “Events” on the left-hand menu. Dairy participants should select “2021 Dairy Judging Regionals”. You will select a specific location after picking the event. Livestock participants should select “2021 State Livestock Judging Contest”.

Coach Registration: Due to contact tracing requirements, we must track everyone who will be present at the fairgrounds on the day of the event. In order to keep check-in moving smoothly, we are asking coaches to complete this form: https://forms.gle/diYWnMkFPUUv48P16. This will allow us to have a record of some of our adults in advance and help you track which youth participants have registered.

Please reach out to Laura Pine at the Wisconsin 4-H Office, (608) 262-1222 or lpine@wisc.edu, with any registration questions. We are so looking forward to seeing you in June!!

Teen Leadership Day Camp

Are you looking for a fun, adventurous way to kick off your summer? Youth who have completed 6th grade have the opportunity to participate in a Teen Leadership Day Camp. The Day Camp will take place at Camp Lakotah in Wautoma. Youth will learn about leadership skills, play games, and do team building activities that can be applied to camp or other areas. Youth will also have the opportunity to explore camp activities such as swimming, hiking, archery, and other waterfront activities. Registration is open and can be found in 4-H online. This is a one-day workshop and youth will be provided lunch and dinner. The cost of this opportunity is $40 per youth and registration must be completed by June 22. A minimum of 25 participants is required to hold the event. If you have questions, please contact Tracy Keifenheim.

4-H Projects vs. Fair Entries vs. Fair Exhibits

See below for some clarification on language that we often use around this time. Hope this helps provide some clarification!
4-H Projects
Throughout the year, the topics or skills you learn about throughout the year are individual explorations, adult and peer leadership, and project-based group meetings. You choose these in 4-H online when you register.
Fair Entry
A declaration of what you intend to show at the Fond du Lac County Fair. You will “enter” these starting in May through June through Show Works found on the exhibitor's page on the Fond du Lac County fair website:  https://www.fonddulaccountyfair.com/p/exhibitor-information. Please contact the fair office with any questions you might have when filling out fair entries. Fair Entries are due June 12 at 11:59 pm. Fair contact info: info@fonddulaccountyfair.com (August-May) or office@fonddulaccountyfair.com (June-July) or 920-929-3168 (June until after Fair).
Fair Exhibit
The final work that is entered in the fair entry system and is judged at the Fond du Lac County Fair. Exhibits are judged on various days, including animals and non-animals, and are on display throughout the entire Fond du Lac County Fair.

County Fair Updates

Prefair Judging

Prefair judging is from 1 - 7 pm on Thursday, July 8 and Tuesday, July 13.  New this year, it will take place in the Expo Building.  Similar to last year, you will sign up for a time to get judged.  This can be done at the Fair Office when you pick up tags or by contacting the office after it opens on June 7th. Fair Office contact information is as follows: 920.929.3168 or office@fonddulaccountyfair.com

Help Needed

Clerks are needed for prefair judging on July 8 and 13, as well as for the animal shows being held during the Fair. Interested individuals, 12 yrs. and older, should contact the Fair Office. Shifts can be split up or shared. Exhibitors who are clerking will be allowed time to have their own items judged. If you are in need of community service hours this summer, this would be a great opportunity!

Parkers: Are you part of a group looking to make a little money for your organization? The FDL County Fair needs parkers throughout the duration of their event. Adult supervisors earn $10/hr., while parkers earn $7/hr. If you are interested or would like more information, contact Pat Immel at pcimmel@gmail.com.

Contest

Looking for a summer art project? Do you have an old pallet laying around that could be upcycled? The Pallet Contest is coming back to the Fair this year. Follow this link to find more information on how you can enter. Print an Entry Form today!
Adult Leaders & TLA Foodstand Sign- Ups

Adult Leader Association Food Stand Schedules Available

Now is the time to sign up your club for shifts in the 4-H food stands at the county fair. These are major fundraisers for the county 4-H program, benefitting all clubs, members, and the communities in which they reside. For the Adult Leader Food Stand, eight to twelve workers are needed per shift. Older teens or adults are needed to sign up to be managers for half a day in the Adult Leader Food Stand. Time slots for both food stands can be viewed at: https://fonddulac.extension.wisc.edu/events-activities/ under 4-H Fundraising Events. To sign up for a time slot, please contact the office (920) 929-3171.

Teen Leader Association Food Stand

Each 4-H club is asked to secure one adult and three youth (age 12 or older) volunteers. Shifts may be broken down, so people can work half a shift, then be replaced with another club representative for the other half. Call the Extension Office 929-3171 to request a specific shift.  In the event your first choice is already filled, please have an alternate choice ready. The building is air-conditioned. You’ll find it is a great place to volunteer! All workers are reminded to wear a hat or tie their hair back.
