This JDAIM, Learning from Those Who Lead by Example: A Message from Our CEO
Did you know that January 26 is Dental Drill Appreciation Day? By chance, I had a dentist appointment that day, where I was surprised to learn that even my dentist did not know this “fun” fact. Appreciation days and months are not a new phenomenon in our society, but as they seem to become more frequent, we sometimes lose sight of why we observe them. Honoring and Caring for Greater Washington’s Holocaust Survivors
Last week marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day, an opportunity to remember and reflect on how we care for the most vulnerable members of our community. Meeting the needs of our increasingly frail local population of Holocaust survivors is one of the most critical issues in Greater Washington. Federation proudly partners with the Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) to support the JSSA Holocaust Survivors Community Fund, which addresses the immediate and long-term needs of those who may not be able to advocate or provide for themselves. Today, thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are serving more people and have eliminated the JSSA waiting list for services among Holocaust survivors.
