Urban Hike: Dark Knight Cafe Crawl
Saturday, October 25, 8:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m., meet at 59th St Metra Stop
Downtown Chicago has served as the shooting location for many memorable films. Among them is Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight (2008). The area’s fine coffee shops also serve ideal study spots for UChicago students. This hike will combine both of these elements, touring shooting locations from The Dark Knight while gaining practical knowledge of the city’s best lattes and donuts.

AI and Deep Learning Capability using Avizo and Amira

Integrating AI-based segmentation, denoising, and analysis, Amira and Avizo reduces processing time from months to days, increasing reproducibility and accuracy across 2D and 3D microscopy, tomography, and SEM/FIB datasets. Workflows follow a consistent structure: label training data, train AI models, and execute segmentation or denoising to identify and quantify structures.

ESL/EAL Writing Tutor

Students can receive feedback on their writing by a tutor who has been trained by the Writing Program and the English Language Institute. Graduate students may drop in.
Join the Public Safety Advisory Council
Applications open through Saturday, November 1
The Public Safety Advisory Council is currently seeking new undergraduate and graduate student members. Council members provide and gather input on issues impacting safety and security on campus and in the University of Chicago Police Department extended patrol area. Members are expected to attend all public and Council-only meetings (~4-6 meetings per year).
