Good morning! Trudy Mackay was honored with one of the top international prizes in evolutionary biology. Nominees for the 2025 Researcher of the Year have been announced, we kick off a series of articles to commemorate 20 years of Creative Inquiry, new staff senators were introduced and more.

What to know today:

Trudy Mackay, the director of the Center for Human Genetics, has been honored by the Linnean Society of London with the Darwin-Wallace Medal, one of the top international prizes in evolutionary biology. Mackay is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities on the genetics of complex traits.

Clemson has announced its nominees for 2025 Researcher of the Year. Each college nominates one senior faculty member and one junior faculty member who received their terminal degree within the past 10 years. Winners will be announced at the annual Research Symposium on May 7.

Celebrating 20 years of Creative Inquiry! Since its founding in 2005, more than 2,500 research projects have been conducted through the Creative Inquiry + Undergraduate Research (CI) program. Today, students will participate in the 20th Annual Focus on Creative Inquiry Poster Forum . To mark the anniversary, Our Clemson is kicking off a new, occasional series about the impact of Creative Inquiry and the opportunities it provides.

Clemson University teamed up with more than two dozen local, state and federal agencies to conduct a Family and Friends Assistance Center (FFAC) exercise. FFACs are set up to provide victims, survivors and their loved ones support and care in the immediate aftermath of a mass casualty or mass fatality incident.
